Joining the orchestra...

We're a friendly bunch, and we always welcome new members. We're particularly looking for reinforcements in all string sections, especially violins and cellos.

When?

We rehearse on Friday evenings, from 7.45pm until 10pm. Then some of us go to the pub...

Where?

Our rehearsals usually take place at St Nicholas Church Hall, Summer Road, Thames Ditton KT7 0QQ, which is 5 minutes walk from Thames Ditton station.  See the players page for more details.

Music?

We play a wide range of music. Typically we will open a concert with an overture, followed by a concerto, often with a guest soloist, then play a symphony in the 2nd half.

Look at the biographies and concerts page for most of the programmes since we started in 1974.

Tell me about the concerts

Concerts usually take place in Kingston Parish Church, or St Andrews Church in Surbiton. Our "season" consists of concerts in Autumn, Spring and Summer. Click on the show future concerts button on the home page.

What next?

So, please get in touch via the contacts page.

The normal minimum standard is Grade 8. While we do not audition strings there is an informal audition process for all wind and brass. We currently have a vacancy for a horn; all wind and brass players with orchestral experience are welcome to express an interest; we will contact you if vacancies or depping opportunities arise.

If you are a string player, on the other hand, you can simply turn up

Check the rehearsal schedule to make sure we're actually at St Nicholas Church Hall and there's a rehearsal on the day. We look forward to playing with you!
